13 Christmas gift ideas for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life
It’s the same challenge every festive season, isn’t it? What do you buy for that person who has everything?
It may be tricky, but it is possible to find great gifts for everyone that they will love and appreciate, I promise! Read on to find out my favourite go-to’s that always go down a treat.
When in doubt, go custom
When someone has “everything”, what’s something you can guarantee they don’t have? A custom piece, of course.
1. A custom macrame piece from Elafi
Elafi crafts stunning custom macrame designs for the home and body. These are perfect for that friend who loves all things coastal, and it’s a very unique gift. One of a kind, in fact!
2. A personalised gift from The Daily Edited
The Daily Edited seriously has something for anyone; men, women and even teenagers – yes, the hardest to buy for of all! They sell gorgeous bags, phone cases, notebooks and other accessories that you can personalise with your loved one’s name or monogram. Everything is beautiful and high quality but affordable too.
I just love how they operate, they really pay attention to their packaging and think of all the little things that really make their pieces special for the person receiving them!
An experience to remember
Sometimes it’s hard to come up with gift ideas because we become obsessed with the idea that we must buy things. Well, we don’t have to! Buying someone a special experience makes for a thoughtful and meaningful gift. It’s also the perfect solution for anyone who is a minimalist or travels a lot.
3. A night stay at Langham Hotels
This is absolute heaven as a romantic treat for a couple you know or someone who might just need a little break away from family life for a night. The suites at the Langham are gorgeous and all have stunning views. It’s easily my favourite hotel.
4. High Tea anyone?
I love the Afternoon Tea with Wedgewood (also at the Langham!). This is a lovely gift idea for a mother and daughter duo in your life – two gifts in one. Or why not book for all of your girlfriends so you get to enjoy it too? That’s one very efficient way to do gift-giving if you ask me.

5. Day Spa Treatment
My top pick for anyone in your life who is always busy and stressed or doesn’t take time for themselves would have to be a day spa treatment or luxe massage. I promise they will just love you for it, and it might even encourage them to take some self care time a little more often! How amazing Sol Spa at Botanica Day Spa in Vaucluse looks and you can even enjoy a gorgeous meal and drinks at the restaurant. I love this place.
6. Lunch at Catalina Rose Bay
This is my absolute favourite lunch spot, the perfect place to take someone out for an amazing treat. Excellent views, excellent food, and an extensive wine list. What more could anyone want?

A sentimental keepsake
A sentimental keepsake like a photoshoot is a truly special gift. After all, having gorgeous photos with your partner, friends, family or pets to look back on in 5 or 10 years is truly something money can’t buy!
One thing to keep in mind with a photoshoot is that the person behind the lens makes all the difference to the ultimate result! You want your special someone to have an amazing experience and love the photos they receive so the gift can keep on giving for years to come. I recommend investing a little time in researching different photographers or asking for recommendations from trusted friends.
7. A photography session
My personal recommendation is Abbie Melle! Her style is incredible and she is truly talented at what she does. Just take a look at some of her photos and you’ll see why. She’s based in the Southern Highlands but happy to travel.
A piece for the home
Okay, so buying someone a home decor gift takes confidence. Rule number one is, you have to know them really well. I always take this risk and 99.9% of the time I get it right! A piece for the home can be a great gift for someone you know well but who already buys themselves everything else they want.
8. A decorative piece from Becker Minty
Everything in this shop is amazing, you really can’t go wrong, but this Vintage Brass Dog is a personal favourite of mine!
9. A limited edition print from Catherine Hiller
I have an original painting from Cathering Hillier at my home and I just adore it. She’s an abstract expressionist artist. All her pieces strike a good balance between modern and traditional, so they can suit a whole range of tastes!
10. A face vase from Jones & Co
These are fabulously unique and instantly add personality to any space. Grab one of these for your friend who’s into all things quirky and offbeat.

A new luxe find
Even those who have everything they want, may not always treat themselves to the things they need. Why not introduce them to something new that they haven’t tried before?
Some of the most heart-warming gifts are those that genuinely make your life better, even in some small way!
11. Adairs Vintage Washed Linen Collection
Take beautiful linen or manchester, for example, we all appreciate having beautiful sheets and towels, but they’re not something that many people buy for themselves often (unless you’re really into it like me!).
I absolutely love this range. It’s great quality, affordable, durable and amazing to sleep on. It also suits so many different decorating styles, so it’s a safe bet for a much-loved gift.

12. Gorgeous Brazilian shoes from Melissa
I have grown up wearing these. They are cute, funky, comfortable and smell amazing. Yes, really, they have a bubblegum scent!
The best part about this gift is your friend or loved one will think of you every time they slip these on. Once you introduce them to Melissa they’ll be hooked – not to mention thankful that you helped them find the most comfortable shoes ever.

13. Anything from Jo Malone
Someone could own hundreds of candles, but you’ve never truly candle-d until you’ve had Jo Malone. Their fragrances are delicious too, but keep those for someone close to you like a partner or best friend. For everyone else? A Jo Malone candle is perfection. And remember, these are not just any candle, the quality and scent is out of this world. Once they try one they’ll never want anything else. But at least you’ll know what to get them next year…
