Gorgeous table settings, decorations & keeping the magic alive.

Easter is nearly here and if you ask me, it’s the perfect excuse for a party.
I absolutely adore Easter; it’s a beautiful time for reflection regardless of your religious traditions, and a day to spend with your loved ones, eat delicious food and celebrate family!

A beautiful table, delicious food, free flowing drinks and your loved ones – a perfect Easter setting!

First of all, on Saturday night (when the boys are asleep), the entire house is magically decorated! Easter magic is still alive in this house! We have a wonderful Easter Bunny hunt which is so much fun for the boys, hopefully this tradition can continue for a few more years yet.

Add new pieces to your collection and spread the magic around your home.

My next go-to is a big Sunday Easter lunch with family and friends. I seriously love to have a celebration that’s almost as big as Christmas day! With so many guests I usually opt for a beautiful buffet (“bacalhau” which is a traditional cod fish dish is a must) and the drinks flow steadily.

“Bacalhau” is a must dish at our table at Easter!

If you’re in Sydney, check out my list of top Easter Egg Hunts around the city – they are a must do! Let’s explore the trends for Easter 2019 and decorate in style with that special Easter magic.

Easter table setting

1. Start with a colour palette you love, that works with your home design and style.

The colour palette and the style of your table setting should work with your home.

2. Easter is a wonderful time to bring those beautiful porcelains and crystals out of the cabinet, Tea cups and saucers, cake stands and decorative small dishes can look absolutely beautiful.

It is time to bring your beautiful porcelains and crystals out of the cabinet. They add a touch of sophistication.

3. Start with what you have first and add special touches to your collection each year.

Time to shop and add new pieces to your collection!

4. Fresh flowers and greenery are a must! I cannot emphasise this enough, they add a lovely spring touch to your Easter table and will last beautifully for the week. I will most definitely be visiting the Sydney flower markets on Easter Saturday, on the lookout for some gorgeous blooms.

Somehow pastels tones belong to Easter. Gorgeous blooms and greeneries bring joy and life!

Top tip: Take the pressure off yourself by setting a menu beforehand and distributing dishes amongst friends and family. Everyone loves to contribute, this works amazingly for a buffet setting.

Easter Decorations

We are absolutely spoilt for choice these days with so many beautiful options! Gone are the days of tacky plastic vibes, instead we have a selection of gorgeously refined pieces that just sparkle with whimsy and joy.

Look for beautiful ceramic pieces to add to your collection and bring out each year, and do the same with baskets, plating dishes and cutlery.
Subtle colours work very well at Easter – think pastels, soft spring blossoms and whimsy.

Delicious and pretty treats are decorative. Invest on them!

Take a look at Bed Bath N Table, they have a wonderful look book and you can pick up anything from table settings to Easter-egg hunt decorations.

I also adore a more rustic approach; Papaya have a gorgeous range. It’s subtle and simple, with soft textures such as felted woodland creatures or natural twine.

Think raw materials and rustic elements as an option for your Easter setting.

Do you go all out for Easter like I do? I’m not sure if it’s my Roman-Catholic background or about keeping the magic alive for my two boys, but I just love this holiday. The magical transformation overnight, the fun and surprise of the Easter egg hunt, the beautiful table…it’s all worth it to see their innocently surprised faces the next morning. It’s a reward I find truly joyful.

Happy Easter!
